Sr. Lab Automation Engineer System Integration (Software)
The system integration engineer will work as part of the Automation Engineering Team developing, validating, implementing, optimizing, and supporting complicated integrated systems for our commercial laboratories.
The successful candidate will have expertise in building system scheduler and control software for integrated automation platforms. The system integration engineer will have strong programming skill in instrument control. The engineer will focus on software development in integrating off-shelf software packages and collaborating with in-house LIMS team.
The successful Lab Automation Engineer will recognize projects in the context of the overall process and be integral to their success by taking a cross-functional leadership role in providing automation expertise from project conception to its completion.
Develop high throughput automation processes with concepts of cost reduction, turnaround time optimization, and human-robot interaction minimization
Build system control software and scheduler for integrated automation platforms
Collaborate closely with LIMS engineers for system integration with informatic systems
Work with automation engineering team to design, develop, and build integrated automation platforms for improved usability and serviceability
Provide software support for integrated systems, NGS equipment, and liquid handling instruments, including troubleshooting, routine maintenance
May act as a mentor/supervisor to Automation Associates
Provide training to users for new methods, new user training, and for entry level Automation Associates
BA/BS in Computer Science, Molecular Biology, Engineering, or Life Science
A minimum 5 years of experience in developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing liquid handling (Agilent VWorks, Hamilton Venus, Beckman FX) and other automated instrumentation
Experienced in developing control software for integrated automation platforms
Experienced in complex system integration, robotic arms, and automation scheduling software (Overlord, GreenButtonGo, Momentum, Cellario, etc.)
Strong general-purpose programming languages (e.g. VB/VBA/VBS, Python, Perl, R, C++/C#), SQL, and NGS related software and computational tools
Experience working with and designing databases and data visualization solutions.
Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment. Including the following; design control, performing verification and validation studies and experience with process development
Ability and desire to work in a team environment supporting both manufacturing operations and regulated diagnostic laboratories
