Excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Biology Core Support group. The successful candidate will be responsible for expression, purification and characterization of recombinant proteins and antibodies to support assay development, high throughput screening, structural biology, antibody discovery, in vivo studies, and other drug discovery-related needs.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct independent lab work, interact closely with other scientists within and outside the Biology Core Support group, and contribute to a team-working environment to advance research projects. A strong background in molecular biology, protein expression and purification skills is required.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
Experience in molecular biology, including PCR, DNA subcloning, and site directed mutagenesis.
Experience with protein expression in bacterial and/or baculovirus expression systems.
Technically proficient in the use of AKTA instruments and general column chromatography methods for recombinant protein and antibody purification.
Collaborates with supervisory personnel to develop research methods.
Recommends alternatives, researches new methods and techniques and proactively seeks out others to discuss potential solutions to problems.
Participates in group meetings and presents results of work, interprets data, and draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
BS degree with 2+ years of experience or MS degree with no experience in a related scientific discipline.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Must be goal-oriented, organized, motivated, and be able to work independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting
