  • Bio/Chemical Engineering or related field, B.S. with 2 years industry experience OR an Associates degree with 4+ years experience. This is an entry level lab supportive role: equipment maintenance, media make up, lab inventory, and general cleaning.

    This position in Biologics Process Development is to support the development of high-efficiency upstream processes for recombinant protein production. Reporting to the head of Upstream Process Development Group, the successful candidate will support the cell culture lab through media preparation, instrument calibration/maintenance, and inventory management of critical raw materials.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

    1. Perform chemical and consumable inventory including ordering supplies and stocking lab
    2. Maintain laboratory equipment
    3. Perform calibrations and preventative maintenance activities on the following equipment: pH meter, Conductivity meter, Metaflex, Vicell, BioHT, osmometer, Siemens blood gas analyzer
    4. Operate autoclave and glass washer for routine laboratory support
    5. Prepare small scale media and nutrient feeds to support shake flask, Ambr15, Ambr250, and 5L bench top bioreactors
    6. Prepare large scale media and nutrient feeds to support tox facility 50L and 250L single use bioreactors
    7. Assemble 5L bioreactors and assist with harvest, disassembly, and clean in place of bioreactors
    8. Managing laboratory activities such as: equipment set-up/calibration, SOP generation, and routine maintenance
    Skills/Knowledge Required:
    9. Hands-on experience working with and maintaining cell culture equipment, especially bench-top and single-use pilot scale bioreactor operation
    10. Familiarity with equipment used in cell culture processes and troubleshooting
    11. Pilot scale experience is a plus
    12. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting
    13. Proficient in computer systems and relevant applications
    14. Excellent organizational and time management skills
    15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
