Project Overview:

This company is responsible for exploring how assistive technologies can better serve our users. This is one of the main initiatives to support millions of users across multiple surfaces. The research associate role will include responsibilities for testing new concepts, competitive analysis, foundational research, and evaluating the current product experience

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Preparing user research activities (working with the recruiters to schedule study sessions, setting up the research lab etc, engaging with stakeholders.)
  • Observing and running study sessions and interviews
  • Administering questionnaires, surveys, and interviews
  • Taking notes during user study sessions
  • Traveling locally and domestic (Seattle, LA, NYC etc.) for conducting field studies with cross functional teams (driving & travel may be required; ~1x/quarter)
  • Analyzing qualitative & quantitative data
  • Communicating findings from the study to stakeholders
  • Creating reports & deliverables (including creating graphs, highlight videos, slide decks etc.)
  • Analyzing, interpreting and summarizing existing research
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating w/ other researchers and stakeholders on research activities
  • Executing research activities (lab, field, interviews, etc.)
  • Synthesizing and reporting results
Skill/Experience/Education
Mandatory
  • M.A/M.S./Ph.D/Advanced Degree (no Bachelor s) in Social Sciences, Psychology, Human Factors, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior; or in lieu or degree, some related work experience
  • 3-5 years of applied industry research experience (work research outside academia)
  • Demonstrable experience and comfort employing product-focused user research methods
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work fairly independently on a variety of tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects
