Senior Research Associate, Translational Medicine

The role of translational development is to inform and guide clinical development from late lead optimization through approved, marketed agents. Translational development responsibilities include:
  • Receive, procure and process clinical samples and performing pharmacodynamics assays to inform dose and schedule for ongoing clinical trials
  • Assist developing and optimizing cell based assays to analyze drug effect in preclinical and clinical samples with novel mechanisms targeting AML
  • Work in a translational team to rapidly, effectively, and insightfully progressing novel agents through early safety, efficacy and signal searching studies

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate who will work with our translational development teams by performing pharmacodynamics assays and by designing and executing experiments to gain insight into the activity of cancer drugs and enable efficient, data-driven clinical development. The successful candidate must have solid technical expertise, enthusiasm for working with cross-functional project teams to support preclinical and clinical programs, and a strong desire to contribute to the development of new anticancer drugs.

Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in cell culture of mammalian cell lines, and isolation and culture of human or mouse tissue derived primary cells
  • Experience in handling and processing human blood samples
  • Experience in flowcytometry, growth/viability and signal transduction on cancer cells or immune cells
  • Independent data analysis and presentation

Scientific Capabilities:
  • Able to design experiments to address a scientific question
  • Able to critically analyze and interpret data
  • Detail-oriented with superb organization skills and communication skills
  • Able to proactively identify problems and implement creative solutions
  • First-rate skills in spotting artifacts and troubleshooting assays
  • Solid understanding of scientific mechanisms and experimental techniques, with knowledge of cancer cell biology preferable

Requirements & Education:
  • The candidate must have a Bachelors degree in the Life Sciences with at least 4 years relevant experience or Masters degree with at least 2 years experience in a research environment preferably in an industry setting. (PREFER Masters Degree rather than PhD)
  • Must be willing to work with a highly motivated team, pursuing goals aggressively. The candidate will be technically superb, independent, detail oriented, well organized, and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
