Research Associate II- Molecular Biology

In this role, you will be part of a high performance, cross-disciplinary team developing new technologies for the next generation of our sequencing platforms leveraging principles in polymer science, bio-conjugations and DNA amplification
Key responsibilities:
  • Perform routine PCR & sequencing experiments on Ion platforms for testing of new candidates of DNA delivery vehicles and functionalized chip surfaces
  • Analyze data, derive conclusions, document findings, write SOPs and prepare reports for sharing within and between R&D groups
  • Develop new analytical tools and assays as needed
  • Learn new Ion platforms and become conversant in operating & troubleshooting them
  • Maintain a detailed and organized lab notebook
  • Procure & maintain lab supplies for the group
  • Interact within Chemistry R&D group as well as with other collaborating R&D groups
Minimum requirements:
  • BS or MS in Bioengineering, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a research lab
  • Solid understanding of DNA amplification, sequencing & bioinformatics tools
  • Basic knowledge of bioconjugation & particle science
  • Proficiency in statistical data analysis and basic programming (Matlab, JMP, etc.). Knowledge in database query (SQL, R, etc) is desirable
  • Proficiency in fluorescence microscopy & other imaging methods
  • Moderate to intensive pipetting and long continuous periods in the lab doing experiments

  • Anticipates needs and problems while creating solutions. Not always instruction-based
