Job description

PREREQUISITES:

Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum seven (7) to ten (10) years of Mechanical design engineering and product development expertise.

Experience with plastic injection molding, mold design, mold fabrication and precision machining desired

Proficient in CAD 3D Modeling tools Key Creator / Solid Works

Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools

Experience with torque instrument design and testing

Manufacturing tooling fabrication experience

CAM Programming experience desired Surfcam, FANUC controller, Abile

Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and proficient in software, Excel, MS office, PowerPoint, etc.

Proficient with Design For Manufacturability (DFM) practices and LEAN Manufacturing principles and tools

Background in the Medical Device industry preferred

KEY DUTIES:

Designing and optimizing mechanical components for use in surgical instrumentation.

Utilizing systems, including Finite Element analysis to analyze structural fatigue points.

Creating engineering and manufacturing drawings and 3D models in accordance with procedures and standards

Interfacing with outside vendors for component selection, material support.

Create conceptual designs of new products individual parts through complete assemblies.

Design integrated mold bases for permanent and removable cavities for injection molded parts.

Draft complete tooling and quality control drawings for plastic injection molded products.

Prototyping new products and managing sample builds with in schedule and budget targets

Developing and implementing specialized manufacturing and assembly tooling and equipment

Supporting new product introduction from Engineering through the hand off to the Production Operations Team

Working with product assurance to develop product validation protocols and reports

Analyzing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data

Create validation test plans, automated test plans, and supporting documents.

Provided quicker customer sample build time through the introduction of standardized parts and part interface features.
