  • Hands-on testing, integration and optimization of microfluidic systems including fluidics, hardware, firmware, software, and chemistry/reagents
  • Quickly fabricate and test prototyped microfluidic systems
  • Conduct system level testing, assay testing, image and statistical analysis
  • Translate benchtop assays to prototype microfluidic systems
  • Use standard lab instrumentation: fluorescence plate readers, fluorescence microscopes, thermocyclers, bioanalyzers, DNA sequencers, syringe pumps, fluidic sensors, pressure sensors
  • Develop and implement experimental test plans
  • Record and analyze complex data sets including image analysis and statistical analysis
  • Develop creative solutions to troubleshoot issues
  • Willingness to be hands-on
  • Share and record experimental results for an audience with broad technical backgrounds at technical meetings
  • Microfluidics with solid background in engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with prototyping microfluidic systems: 3D printers, CO2 laser, laser ablation, profilometry
  • Experience with image analysis (ImageJ, Virtual Dub, Matlab or other image analysis methods) and statistical software including JMP
  • Experience with scripting languages such as python or the National Instrument environment to operate prototype instruments
  • Experience with CAD including Solidworks for simple part design for fixtures for fabrication
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and successfully work across multiple disciplines including engineering, biology, and software is highly desired
  • 1-2 years of engineering work with prototype microfluidic testing systems
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clean room
  • 1-2 years of experience in a lab environment with wet biology or chemistry experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in product development is highly desired
  • Experience with sequencing, library prep and PCR is highly desired
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Clear communicator and a team player
  • Multidisciplinary approach to problem solving
  • A desire to be part of face paced dynamic environment
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or Physics
