Research Associate - Process Development

Position Requirements and Experience:
  • Expertise in a variety of laboratory techniques such as recombinant DNA technology, including qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation and analysis; sterile tissue culture techniques including, transfection, transduction, developing and maintaining cell lines; biochemical techniques including, Western Blot, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence are preferred but not required
  • At minimum, a Bachelor s degree in Biomedical Science, with 1-3 years experience working in a biotech company or fast-paced academic research lab
  • Broad knowledge base in cell, molecular biology, and microbiology techniques
  • Viral handling, production, or purification experience is highly desirable
  • Background and understanding of Adenovirus biology is favorable
  • Detail oriented and with time management skills. Must be proactive, co-operative, and willing to work in a small team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office and other commonly used software
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain suspension and adherent mammalian cell lines for upstream virus production activities
  • Prepare cell culture media and reagents
  • As needed, inoculate virus production vessels, according to specified timelines and parameters
  • Perform transient transfections in cell culture vessels
  • Harvest Adeno-associated virus from mammalian cells
  • As needed, train in and aid with downstream viral purification procedures
  • Characterization of viral lots using absolute qPCR quantitation, Western blot and silver stain analysis
  • Execute assigned tasks following appropriate procedures and produce competent and reproducible results to a high technical standard
  • Appropriately maintain accurate records with minimum supervision
  • Support and assist the members of the team.
