Seeking a Research Associate to participates in number of projects and ensures that the highest quality of the work is achieved. This role tracks and conducts diverse set of microbiological tasks requiring specialized knowledge, skills and competencies, as well as reports data, completes projects and ensures a smooth operation. A significant portion of the job involves sample processing, seed treatment establishment tests and biomass production for field trial tests to meet company priorities and project timelines.

  • Actively participates in number of discovery projects in isolating, identifying, and optimizing growth of new microbes
  • Performs different kinds of DNA extraction and quantitation from environmental samples
  • Constructs and analyses libraries utilizing PCR, gel electrophoresis and DNA purification/quantitation
  • Plans workflow and determine priority of work activities to meet project timelines and tracks progress
  • Performs different kinds tests for optimization of the cultures, screening for media and other parameters for cultivation, purifying and archiving for both working and microbial collection purposes
  • Maintains, organizes and compiles data in reports communicated to manager
  • Communicates effectively as a team member both within the group as well as with other departments
  • As needed participate in field work collecting soil or plant samples
  • Determine how to organize work schedule to meet project deadlines
  • Determine appropriate course of action when experiments fail and impact timelines
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in molecular biology, microbiology or related discipline and 2-4 years related experience.
  • Possesses firm understanding of fundamental basis of molecular and microbiology techniques
  • At least 2 years of experience in molecular biology, microbiology and/or plant biology
  • Knowledge of current scientific literature related to microbial ecology and cultivation
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
